VMware Validated Design

VMware Validated Designs (VVD) provides prescriptive guidance and tools to plan, build, and operate a Software-Defined Data Center (SDDC). The designs help customers deploy VMware SDDC components to achieve a wide variety of SDDC use cases with predictable results and according to best practices.

VVDs are extensively tested to ensure all components and their specific versions are validated to work in unison, to scale to predetermined design objectives, and to operate as our customers expect. The VVD for SDDC is a holistic approach to designing, operating, and upgrading the full SDDC stack.

5.0.1 Release

VVD 5.0.1 is a minor release that contains changes to the Bill of Materials maintaining BOM alignment between VVD and VCF (VMware Cloud Foundation).

VVD 5.0.1 also updates VMware Cloud Builder to version 2.0. Cloud Builder 2.0 provides a streamlined automated deployment of SDDC for both VVD and VCF using a single appliance.

VMware Cloud Builder 2.0: We now use the same Cloud Builder appliance to deploy both VVD and VCF
Updated optional NSX-T guidance: NSX-T Manager now implements a centralized control plane and is deployed in cluster mode on the management cluster of the SDDC
